At the world-class engineering marvel, Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, Hien air source heat pumps have provided hot water without a hitch for six years! Renowned as one of the “New Seven Wonders of the World,” the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge is a mega cross-sea transportation project connecting Hong Kong, Zhuhai, and Macao, boasting the world’s longest overall span, longest steel structure bridge, and longest undersea tunnel made of immersed tubes. After nine years of construction, it officially opened for operation in 2018.
This showcase of China’s comprehensive national strength and world-class engineering spans 55 kilometers in total, including 22.9 kilometers of bridge structure and a 6.7-kilometer undersea tunnel that links the artificial islands on the east and west. Following a professional design plan, the air source heat pump project by Hien on the eastern island was completed in 2017, and smoothly finalized on the western island in 2018. Encompassing the design, installation, and commissioning of the air source heat pump system and the intelligent variable frequency water pump system, the project fully considered the operational stability and efficiency in the special island environment.
Throughout the entire system design and construction process, strict adherence was maintained to the detailed construction drawings and technical specifications laid out in the design plan. The air source heat pump system comprises efficient heat pump units, thermal storage water tanks, circulation pumps, expansion tanks, and advanced control systems. Through the intelligent variable frequency water pump system, a constant temperature water supply is ensured around the clock.
Due to the unique maritime environment and the project’s significance, the authorities in charge of the eastern and western artificial islands had particularly high demands for the materials, performance, and system requirements of the hot water system.
